FreEbook

A FreEbook is a ebook released under the Creative Commons "Attribution NonCommercial" license. It may be redistributed in whole or in part as long as the original author receives credit and the purpose of any use or distribution is noncommercial.

The term FreEbook was coined in November, 2004 by Brian Ferguson to describe his Adobe pdf book Information Literacy: A Primer for Teachers, Librarians, and Other Informed People.

Teachers and librarians share information, thoughts, ideas, and insights, generously and freely. It's in their very nature. The FreEbook concept is a way to put one's thoughts and ideas online so other teachers and librarians (and, by extension, their students and patrons) can benefit.
